| From Foreign To Domestic In Auto Sales |
In June automakers were hit hard by rising fuel prices and an economic slowdown started by the sub-prime mortgage market. Sales fell nearly twenty eight percent at Ford, over twenty percent at Toyota, and almost twenty percent at General Motors proving June to be the worst month yet in a difficult year for car companies. The tough market has restructured the market and moved consumers away from foreign automakers back to American companies, especially GM. General Motors, despite having a terrible month still did better than expected and even surpassed Toyota to regain its spot as the top automaker in the US. Moreover certain aspects of the market have been hit even harder than expected, at Ford SUV sales were down thirty six percent. Toyota got it even worse where truck sales were down over thirty eight percent of what they were a year ago. Consumers are giving up their large vehicles in order to save gas and money. The slowdown can only mean good things for the consumers because it will drive the prices of cars down well below what they typically are. Sport Utility Vehicles have fallen in price by more than thirteen percent giving buyers enough room to be able to afford gas after purchasing the vehicle. For people who still have to give up their large vehicles there is still an alternative, they can always rent a larger vehicle when they need it. For example if you wanted to drive from Atlanta to New York but didn’t have a large enough car to transport everything you needed you could simply go to this site which has passenger van rentals in Atlanta or for extended periods of time, monthly car rentals Atlanta. If those vehicles aren’t exactly what you are looking for to rent you can even find 15 passenger van rentals in Atlanta and in most other larger cities. Renting large cars gives buyers the ultimate solution, they can still use the larger vehicles when needed but because they can own a much smaller more efficient car, they don’t have to spend 70 bucks to fill up a tank of gas to drive to work in the morning. Availability of these rental vehicles should remain high because of how desperate dealers are to get rid of them and how much car rental companies need them for their customers. Automakers are also now flooding the market with their smaller vehicles simply because so many people now want to trade in and get rid of their larger truck sized models. |
