We all want a good price on new and used vehicle parts, and we know that domestic or third party auto parts can sometimes save us a few dollars on our repairs and maintenance. Imports can cost a little bit more because of shipping and availability of course, but the rule is usually that if you can afford the car, you can afford the parts.
But how about those extreme sports car, the high-end super performance autos that sometimes don't even have spare parts unless you order them along with the car? I can't envy anyone who has to replace the spark plugs or brake pads on a Jaguar or a Koenigsegg (one of those Swedish super sports cars), because they can obvious afford to spend a little bit more on auto supplies...whether they have to be shipped from Italy, Germany, or Mars.
It's probably some small consolation that most of these vehicles, like the Porsches, the Ferraris, and the Lamborghinis already reside in Europe, where international shipping isn't an issue. But when one has to ask "how much?" whether it's for the car insurance or the wiper blades, you're probably already out of your league. Of course, there are always kit cars that people can build, for those who can't afford the real items, but you just can't turn a Toyota into a Lamborghini when even the fake parts cost nearly as much as the real items! |
